We continue with the opinion that we need to see chapter 7 lifted, Ebril/HCl implemented and article 8 status of the currency for the RV. Chapter 7 could be done on June 15 when the UNSC meets next and it was reported that the HCl will be voted on when Parliament reconvenes. What is interesting is Parliament will reconvene on ? You guessed it, mid June. Also, Maliki could easily be gone by then and a fully seated GOI put in place. On top of all this a news release said the tariffs would be effective July 1. It seems as if the timeline is converging around mid to late June. However, we continue to caution all that Maliki will not go quietly and Iraq is notorious for delays. He's doing everything he can to stay in power right now. We're not sure yet which direction it will go. If they believe they have the necessary 163 votes to remove him they'll move ahead with the no-confidence, if not then they may prefer to reach an agreement with Maliki after he meets their terms and we'll see a National Meeting. These next couple days will tell us. One way or another it will be resolved. Should be interesting.

Reports state he has threatened to do anything from removing military protection from Kurdistan, taking Talabani out, not running for a third term to immediately stepping down. He even went on TV saying he has been calling for the NC but the other blocs are delaying and not enacting laws to serve the people of Iraq. We are starting to be of the opinion that there actually may be enough votes to take him out. We do agree if Maliki is removed Jaafari will most likely be name interim PM. UPDATE: Going back to the middle of 2010 the Obama White House has plainly had a hand in this situation. 5-11-2012 SWFloridaGuy: According to reports, Iraq's economy is improving at an exponential rate. According to the SIGR's (special inspector general for Iraq reconstruction) quarterly report sent to the US Congress, the IMF and the CBI both project GDP to grow by 12% in 2012.
Crude oil reached its highest production in decades and foreign commercial activity jumped 40%. The CoR (Council of Representatives) who among other things pass federal laws, ratify treaties, and approve nominations of specified officials, recently approved the largest budget in the country's history.
Here's the problem, as Shabibi just stated a few days ago: a resolution to the current political crisis is imperative to economic growth, the implementation of removal of the zeros project and the raising of the IQD's exhange rate. This is further illustrated by this SIGR report that states Iraq's currency reform project, the goal of which is to remove the zeros from the nominal value and raise the exchange rate of the IQD to a level close or equal to the USD, has been postponed due to political tensions.

SWFloridaGuy] 5-10-2012 BGG: Maliki's only way out of this is the National Meeting. He believes that he will receive a no-confidence if there's no meeting and if he goes down he wants to take Talabani down with him. That's what that threat was about. Ultimately, I think we're really close to this being over.
We can see this stuff unfolding in the public eye. All the information we're seeing is happening right before us. It doesn't require a super secret intel source. There are only a few real sources who would know anyway and they're not going to talk to anyone. There should be some hot and heavy negotiations over the weekend but I don't know how far they will go, they may already have their minds set on which direction they are going to take this.
This is a very exciting time to be involved in this investment. It won't take Jafaari that long to sort this out. As soon as they deal with Maliki Jafaari will jump back in there as a peace maker. Keep an eye out this weekend, it's going to be very interesting to see what happens. We should have a legitimate change in the next 2-10 days.

Sc5-10-2012 Gypsy Vardo: In response to what's been said on conference calls concerning the FDIC, I think they are blowing that announcement of regulatory reform of "too-big-to-fail" banks out of proportion.
As a former FDIC Bank Examiner, former Bank president and one who actually formed a bank holding company, I believe this new procedure is their method of how to address the complexities of some of these financial institutions that have multiple financial platforms (not just a bank charter).
