LAKE JACKSON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul again polls better against President Barack Obama in a head-to-head matchup than establishment-choice moderate Mitt Romney, according to a poll released today from Rasmussen.
The poll notes that in a general election matchup, the 12-term Congressman from Texas edges out Obama by 1 percentage point, 44 to 43 percent. The survey also notes that in a hypothetical 2012 head-to-head, Obama and Romney are tied at 45 percent, which bodes poorly for Republicans being urged to believe the race is over, only to later experience buyer’s remorse.
The poll also finds that this far into Obama’s first term, 40 percent of voters respond that they “strongly disapprove” and 27 percent “strongly approve” of his performance. With a Presidential Approval Index of -13 points, it is noteworthy that some Republicans are seemingly settling on a candidate no more popular than the President, suggesting an establishment liberal Democrat is no more popular than a establishment liberal Republican. The Rasmussen poll may be prescient in showing a general election scenario of confusion among voters over which candidate has the least liberal record.

One of Britain’s most prominent religious figures, Cardinal Keith O’Brien, has accused David Cameron of immoral behaviour and of favouring rich City financiers over those struggling on lower incomes.
O’Brien, Scotland’s most senior Roman Catholic authority, said: “The poor have suffered tremendously from the financial disasters of recent years and nothing, really, has been done by the very rich people to help them.
“I am saying to the prime minister, look, don’t just protect your very rich colleagues in the financial industry, consider the moral obligation to help the poor of our country.”
O’Brien called for Cameron to introduce a Robin Hood or financial transaction tax on City dealings. “My message to David Cameron, as the head of our government, is to seriously think again about this Robin Hood tax, the tax to help the poor by taking a little bit from the rich,” he told the BBC.
Last year Cameron and the chancellor, George Osborne, led Europe-wide efforts to stop France and Germany introducing just such a tax, arguing that it would be uniquely damaging to UK interests.
In a BBC1 Scotland interview, O’Brien said it was immoral “just to ignore” those suffering as a result of the credit crunch.
“When I say poor, I don’t mean [only] the abject poverty we see sometimes in our streets. I mean people who would have considered themselves reasonably well-off.
“People who have saved for their pensions and now realise their pension funds are no more. People who are considering giving up their retirement homes that they have been saving for, poverty affecting young couples and so on and so on.
“It is these people who have had to suffer because of the financial disasters of recent years, and it is immoral. It is not moral just to ignore them and to say ‘struggle along’, while the rich can go sailing along in their own sweet way.”
O’Brien said he was speaking in favour of a campaign by the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund, which along with other religious and political groups has been campaigning for the introduction of a Robin Hood or Tobin tax that could raise £20bn each year from a 0.05% levy on financial transactions.
Figures from the Sunday Times rich list show that the assets of Britain’s wealthiest 1,000 rose last year to £414bn.
A Downing Street spokesperson told the BBC the prime minister was “determined to help people” struggling with their finances. The government had “inherited enormous debt – but the prime minister is determined to help people who are struggling with the consequences of that”, the spokesperson said.

Banks will be closed and there will be a lot of uncertainty and confusion. Some businesses will be temporarily closed. Yuval Diskin said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak – who have been saber-rattling for months – have their judgment clouded by "messianic feelings" and should not be trusted to lead policy on Iran. Diskin, who headed Shin Bet until last year, said a strike might actually accelerate the Iranian program.
Shin Bet addresses security in Israel and the Palestinian Territories only and is not involved in international affairs.
Iran says its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. Israel, like the West, believes that Tehran is developing weapons technology, but there is intense debate over whether international economic sanctions accompanying the current round of negotiations might prevent Iran from developing a bomb, or whether at some point a military strike should be launched.
Diskin's comments deepened the sense that a rift is growing between the hawkish Netanyahu government and the security establishment over the question of a strike – and Netanyahu allies quickly rushed to his defense.
In Israel, security figures carry clout well into retirement. Although they frequently pursue political careers, Diskin had been seen as relatively apolitical, perhaps lending his words even greater weight.
"I don't have faith in the current leadership of Israel to lead us to an event of this magnitude, of war with Iran," Diskin said at a public meeting Friday, video of which was posted on the Internet the next day and quickly became the lead news item in Israel.
"I do not believe in a leadership that makes decisions based on Messianic feelings," he continued. "I have seen them up close. They are not messiahs, these two, and they are not the people that I personally trust to lead Israel into such an event."
Diskin said it was possible that "one of the results of an Israel attack on Iran could be a dramatic acceleration of the Iran program. ... They will have legitimacy to do it more quickly and in a shorter timeframe."
Several members of Netanyahu's coalition issued statements questioning Diskin's motives and suggesting that in effect he had allied himself with Israel's dovish opposition.
The prime minister's office called the former Shin Bet chief's remarks "irresponsible," while Barak's office accused Diskin of "acting in a petty and irresponsible way based on personal frustration" and "damaging the tradition of generations of Shin Bet leaders."
Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman also took a swipe at Diskin.
"If you do not trust the prime minister and not the defense minister, you should have resigned and not waited for the end of your term," he said.
Further complicating the picture is the widely held suspicion that Israel's threats may actually amount to a bluff of historic proportion which has if anything been effective in compelling the world to boycott Iranian oil and isolate its central bank. From that perspective, criticism such as Diskin's, based on a literal approach, could be construed as simplistic and self-defeating.
Israeli security officials have taken issue with the political leadership on several issues: whether sanctions will make a strike unnecessary, whether a strike will be militarily effective, and whether Israel should strike unilaterally if it cannot gain American approval.
Diskin's speech – in which he also attacked the government for not actively pursuing peace with the Palestinians – came days after the country's current top military commander, Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz, also seemed to disagree with the country's leadership on the likelihood that Iran will pursue a nuclear weapon.
Gantz told The Associated Press this week that Iran is seeking to develop its "military nuclear capability," but that the Islamic Republic would ultimately bow to international pressure and decide against building a weapon. The key to that pressure, he said, were sanctions and the threat of a military strike.
One of the first criticisms voiced by a security figure came last summer from Israel's recently retired spy chief, Meir Dagan. He called a strike against Iran's nuclear program "stupid." Dagan, who headed the Mossad spy agency, said an effective attack on Iran would be difficult because Iranian nuclear facilities are scattered and mobile, and warned it could trigger war.
Other senior figures with security backgrounds have questioned whether Israel should act alone, as Netanyahu insists the country has a right to do.
Last month Shaul Mofaz – a former military chief and defense minister who has since been elected head of the opposition Kadima Party – said the threats of an imminent military strike are actually weakening Israel. Mofaz, who was born in Iran and moved to Israel as a child, said Israel "is not a ghetto" and that despite its military might must fully coordinate with the U.S. on any plan to strike Iran.
Dan Halutz, who led the military from 2005 to 2007, also criticized Netanyahu last month for invoking Holocaust imagery in describing the threat posed by a nuclear-armed Iran. "We are not kings of the world," Halutz said. "We should remember who we are."
A recent poll suggested the public agrees. The survey, conducted by the Israeli Dahaf agency for the University of Maryland, said 81 percent of Israelis oppose a solo attack on Iran. At the same time, it said two-thirds of Israelis would support military action if coordinated with Washington. The poll, released last week, questioned 500 Israelis and had a margin of error of 4.3 percentage points.
In a recent report the U.N. nuclear agency found Iran continues to enrich uranium – a key step toward developing a bomb. Although few in Israel would dispute that a nuclear-armed Iran is an existential threat, debate has revolved around the cost-benefit analysis of an attack.
On the cost side is the possible retaliation, in the form of Iranian missiles as well as rocket attacks by Iranian proxies Hezbollah and Hamas on its northern and southern borders. Especially daunting is the prospect of sustained missile strikes on Tel Aviv, a bustling business and entertainment capital whose populous is psychologically ill-prepared for a homefront war.
It also would likely cause oil prices to skyrocket at a time when the global economy is already struggling – risking a new recession for which Israel would absorb much if not most of the blame. Malaysia’s civil society movement for free and fair elections, Bersih 3, has gone global with rallies expected in 79 cities around the world, including in Australia, this Saturday.
Bersih, which means ‘clean’ in Malay, is a movement pushing for a more transparent system ahead of general elections which have to be called by March next year.
Bersih 3 follows rallies in Kuala Lumpur last July when Malaysian police fired tear gas at supporters, estimated at between 10,000 to 50,000.

Nowadays almost all of us, even the most blind ones have heard who and how are controlling the world populations, you and me. Few bloodlines called Cabal and their organisation Illuminati and sub organisations such as Bilderberg, CFR, U.N. etc..
Their population control methods are money, education, media, fear etc.
‘No one can do anything about it’ and ‘No one can change a system without a war’. This idea is inserted in to our brains by the movies we watched, by the books we read, by the teachers we listened.
A very very important knowledge was carefully hidden from us for centuries. It is ‘our brain power’. So, we lived a life without really knowing how powerful we are.
The ideas which we keep in our consciousness, creates our future. These ideas also feeds the society consciousness with positivity or negativity. What is hold by society consciousness becomes the future of society. If the societies fear of war they have war in their future, if they keep fear of economical crisis, so it becomes their future.
Then, why do feed the society consciousness with fear?
We can feed it with peace and love and harmony. We can create the world how we want to see there first, after it becomes reality.
Yes we can do something. Yes we have power to do something peacefully, something with love. We are millions of people who are aware of this. We do not want to be controlled by one big evil hand anymore and yes WE CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
We, people of the Mother Earth, from all over the globe, declare that 5 and 6 may 2012 as WORLD LIBERATION DAY.
This day, we will use our brain power to stop them.

(AP) The entire top leadership of the Justice Ministry has sought dismissal.Also assistant secretary Hans Olav Ostgaard goes off before the summer.This was confirmed by Justice Minister Grete Faremo (AP) to AP this afternoon.
This morning it was announced that the administrative CEO, Secretary Morten Ruud is the day that Secretary of the Justice Ministry, and that the former Hub Manager Tor Saglie take over temporarily.
- Both have sought honorably discharged. I take note of the job cuts, says Defence Minister.
According to Morten Ruud is the time of his departure random and without drama.
- I now look forward to starting his job as special adviser in the Law Department. There I have responsibilities related to human rights and the project Crisis, and I look forward to working with the trade again. Beyond that, I have no further comments, said Morten Ruud.
Hans Olav Ostgaard shall be in a position as special advisor in the Ministry.According Faremo his departure clarified in the previous month.

(VG Nett) Hele toppledelsen i Justisdepartementet har søkt avskjed. Også assisterende departementsråd Hans Olav Østgaard går av før sommeren.
Det bekrefter justisminister Grete Faremo (Ap) overfor VG Nett nå i ettermiddag.
I formiddag ble det kjent at den administrative toppsjefen, departementsråd Morten Ruud går på dagen som departementsråd i Justisdepartementet, og at tidligere Nav-sjef Tor Saglie overtar midlertidig.
- Begge har søkt avskjed i nåde. Jeg tar oppsigelsene til etterretning, sier Faremo.
Ifølge Morten Ruud er tidspunktet for hans avgang tilfeldig og uten dramatikk.
- Jeg ser nå frem til å starte i jobben som spesialrådgiver i lovavdelingen. Der skal jeg ha arbeidsoppgaver knyttet til menneskerettigheter og prosjektet Styrkebrønnen, og jeg gleder med til å jobbe med fag igjen. Utover det har jeg ingen ytterligere kommentarer, sier Morten Ruud.
Hans Olav Østgaard skal over i en stilling som spesialrådgiver i departementet. Ifølge Faremo ble hans avgang avklart i forrige måned.
Dermed er fire toppledere i justissektoren ute etter terrorangrepet 22.juli. Knut Storberget gikk av som justisminister i fjor høst, og i januar takket PST-sjef Janne Kristiansen for seg etter at hun hadde avslørt det som kunne være militære hemmeligheter om E-tjenesten i en stortingshøring.
De ansatte i departementet ble informert om Ruuds avgang på et allmøte klokka 10 i dag og nyheten kom som en overraskelse på de aller fleste.
Morten Ruud har vært øverste ansvarlige leder for den sosiale og faglige oppfølgingen av departementets 400 ansatte etter 22.juli.
Departementsråden er den øverste embetsmannen i departementet, direkte underlagt statsråden.

TRIBUNAL TO HEAR SECOND WAR CRIME CHARGE AGAINST BUSH AND ASSOCIATES
KUALA LUMPUR, 12 April 2012 - The Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Tribunal will be hearing the second charge of Crime of Torture and War Crimes against former U.S. President George W. Bush and his associates namely Richard Cheney, former U.S. Vice President, Donald Rumsfeld, former Defence Secretary, Alberto Gonzales, then Counsel to President Bush, David Addington, then General Counsel to the Vice-President, William Haynes II, then General Counsel to Secretary of Defense, Jay Bybee, then Assistant Attorney General, and John Choon Yoo, former Deputy Assistant Attorney-General. The charge reads as follows:
The Accused persons had committed the Crime of Torture and War Crimes, in that: The Accused persons had wilfully participated in the formulation of executive orders and directives to exclude the applicability of all international conventions and laws, namely the Convention against Torture 1984, Geneva Convention III 1949, Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the United Nations Charter in relation to the war launched by the U.S. and others in Afghanistan (in 2001) and in Iraq (in March 2003); Additionally, and/or on the basis and in furtherance thereof, the Accused persons authorised, or connived in, the commission of acts of torture and cruel, degrading and inhuman treatment against victims in violation of international law, treaties and conventions including the Convention against Torture 1984 and the Geneva Conventions, including Geneva Convention III 1949.
The Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Commission (KLWCC) following the due process of the law is bringing this charge against the accused. In 2009, the Commission, having received complaints from torture victims from Guantanamo and Iraq, proceeded to conduct a painstaking and an in-depth investigation for close to two years. Two charges on war crimes were drawn and filed against the accused persons.
The Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Tribunal had heard the first charge in November 2011 against the two accused, former U.S. President George W. Bush and former British Prime Minister Anthony L. Blair who were after a 4-day trial found guilty of Crimes Against Peace. These two former heads of state violated the United Nations Charter and international law when they planned, prepared and invaded the sovereign state Iraq on 19 March 2003 without just cause.
At the first hearing in November 2011, the Tribunal had permitted the prosecution’s application to hear only the first charge. The second charge will now be heard at the second Tribunal hearing from 7 – 12 May 2012.
The Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Tribunal is constituted of eminent persons with legal qualifications. The judges of the Tribunal, which is headed by retired Malaysian Federal Court judge Tan Sri Dato Lamin bin Haji Mohd Yunus, who also served as an ad litem judge at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Republic of Yugoslavia, include other notable names such as Mr Alfred Lambremont Webre, a Yale graduate, who authored several books on politics, Tunku Sofiah Jewa, practising lawyer and author of numerous publications on International Law, ProfSalleh Buang, former Federal Counsel in the Attorney-General Chambers and retired Court of Appeal judge Datuk Mohd Sa’ari Yusof.
Point to note is that victims of torture will also be called give evidence before the Tribunal. The cries of these victims have thus far gone unheeded by the international community. The fundamental human right to be heard has been denied to them. These witnesses will testify on the torture they had endured during their incarceration. The accused will have a right to cross-examine them as in any open court hearing.
The Tribunal will adjudicate and evaluate the evidence presented as in any court of law. The judges of the Tribunal must be satisfied that the charges are proven beyond reasonable doubt and deliver a reasoned judgement.
In the event the tribunal convicts any of the accused, the only sanction is that the name of the guilty person will be entered in the Commission’s Register of War Criminals and publicised worldwide. The tribunal is a tribunal of conscience and a peoples’ initiative.
The prosecution for the trial will be lead by Prof Gurdial Singh Nijar, prominent law professor and author of several law publications and Prof Francis Boyle, leading American professor, practitioner and advocate of international law, and assisted by a team of lawyers.
The trial will be a public hearing held in an open court on 7-12 May 2012 at the premises of the Kuala Lumpur Foundation to Criminalise War (KLFCW) at 88, Jalan Perdana, Kuala Lumpur. The hearing is open to members of the public.
